2026 Competition

Below, you will find information on the current competition, including all forms and training. 


All forms are due April 3rd, 2026.

Dear Advisors, Volunteers, and Students...

Welcome to New Mexico Envirothon!

Our State Competition for 2026 will be held on April 16th-19th at El Porvenir Camp in Montezuma, NM. 


Below are 3 steps to complete your registration, depending on your status as an advisor, volunteer, or student. 


  1. All participants will submit their registration form (either the Team or Volunteer form)
  2. All participants will submit BOTH the NM Envirothon Release form AND the Camp Release form
  3. Adult advisors and volunteers will complete two required camp trainings and sign our form to acknowledge their completion.

3. Adult Trainings (Required)

Child Sexual Abuse Prevention

Peer-to-Peer Sexual Abuse Prevention

Peer-to-Peer Sexual Abuse Prevention

Required for all advisors and volunteers


In this training, we’ll train staff on the warning signs of child sexual abuse and how they can prevent this from happening at their camp. We’ll focus on the importance of immediately reporting these warning signs and rule-breaking. You’ll hear from camp staff on how to apply this guidance at your camp.

Required for all advisors and volunteers


Peer-to-peer abuse happens at camp. In this training, we’ll train staff on the elements of peer-to-peer abuse and how to prevent this from happening at their camp. And if it does happen, we’ll review the appropriate way to respond. You’ll hear from camp staff on how to apply this guidance at your camp.

Competition Details

We’re excited to announce that the 2026 NM Envirothon Competition will be held at El Porvenir Camp in Montezuma, NM. This is our first time returning to this beautiful area and facility, making it a unique opportunity for teams to experience a new setting.


Competition Dates:

April 16-19, 2026, 

With early arrival available on Thursday, April 16th.


Registration Fees:  

Team Registration: $150 per team 

 

Food and Lodging:

  $135 per person for two nights (Friday morning arrival) and six meals  

 $175 per person for three nights (Thursday afternoon/evening arrival) and seven meals  


We look forward to welcoming teams to explore this year’s theme, 

“Non-Point Source Pollution,” in a new and engaging environment.


Teams: Be sure to contact your local SWCD for sponsorship assistance prior to the State Competition. 



2026 National Competition Details

The winning team from the April state competition will proudly represent New Mexico at the NCF-Envirothon competition, taking place at Mississippi State University in Starkville, Mississippi, from July 19 to 25, 2026! 


Donations to NM Envirothon directly support the travel for the winning team, their coach, and other volunteers, ensuring they have an unforgettable experience on the national stage. 


Preparing for State

Below is an overview of activities: 


Thursday: 

  • Board/volunteers arrive; prepare camp
  • Meals on your own

Friday Competition: 

  • Registration
  • Welcome/Competition Begins
  • Lunch (Provided)
  • Station Tests (soils, wildlife, aquatics, forestry, and special topic)
  • Dinner (Provided)
  • Team trading session and mixer

Saturday Competition: 

  • Breakfast (Provided)
  • Teams receive oral scenario
  • Teams prepare presentation (6 hours) 
  • Coaches Meeting
  • Oral presentations
  • Sponsored Social Event

Sunday: 

  • Award Ceremony
  • 2026 Event Announced
  • Teams go home
  • Board meets with the winning team to prepare for Nationals 

Request a study trunk!

Thanks to an NCF-Envirothon Diversity Grant, we have equipped a trunk with some of the tools and materials to study each topic that can be shipped to your team for a practice session.
